Secrets of Successful Essay Organization: Guiding and Convincing Your Readers in Every Paragraph
Start Date: 2/13/2019Start Time: 5:00 PM
End Date: 2/13/2019End Time: 6:00 PM
Event Description:

Recently, some clay tablets were unearthed by Dr. Indiana Jones in the gardens near the Athenian Academy that reveal long-held secrets of how Aristotle used certain arrangements of sentences, patterns, and memory devices to guide readers in writing essays and speeches.  (Actually, Dr. Jones did not (yet) discover these tablets; but, who knows?  Maybe he might one day?).  Using these ancient principles often makes the difference between an essay that emphatically guides it readers to a convincing conclusion--or, one that falls short of being truly persuasive.  Join Dr. Wilson as he re-examines and shines light on how to apply these antiquities of rhetoric to keep your essay's ideas and its readers on track and focused.

Presented by Dr. Gary Wilson.
